Ageless Leading Men

Some men look good at any age.

This week Sean Connery, the proclaimed “Best James Bond of All Time,” turned 90. Of course, I had to scroll through the photos of him as he went from soap opera star Allan Quartermaine on General Hospital to box office sensation in all those Bond films we love. There are not many actors that stay vital through the decades, but Connery is one of them. Is it his charisma oozing from every pore that makes him so handsome? I’m guessing that helps and a darn good physique. Do you know he completed in the 1953 Mr. Universe competition and placed third?

More than anything else, I’d like to be an old man with a good face, like Hitchcock or Picasso.
— Sean Connery

Sometimes it’s the structure of the face like high cheekbones or symmetry, like Paul Newman’s perfectly chiseled jaw. In the case of many actors, like Denzel Washington, it’s the contagious smile. Whatever charm they exude only adds to their attractiveness.

The character an actor portrays might be the reason you consider him handsome.

Cary Grant has starred in some of my favorite movies, including The Philadelphia Story, An Affair to Remember, and Houseboat. He is witty, funny, enamoring, and smooth - all of which help in his attractability. His leading ladies can also add to the actor's charm - Deborah Kerr, Katharine Hepburn, and the sensational Sophia Loren are all actors that helped define Grant's appeal.

I’d love to hear who you think qualifies as an Ageless Leading Man
