Mother's Day Brunch Made Easy

Feasting at Home has the most delicious recipes

I’ve lived through 60 plus Mothers’ Days as a child, mother, and now grandmother. I categorize the experience into these groups: as a new mom - others honor me; as a daughter-in-law - I honor my mother-in-law; as a daughter - I celebrate my mother first, me second. So, it may be asked: when do I get a Mother’s Day all to me? The answer is “probably never” which in my opinion is the way I want it to be. Perpetuating and honoring the role of a mother never gets old and I’m happy to sneak in a day to myself when no one watches. Regardless, we need food, fun, and conversation, so our Mother’s Day Brunch is one that can be made ahead, enjoyed by all and clean-up is on the guys.

Bake Breakfast Strata

A delicious casserole with mushrooms, caramelized onions, goat cheese and thyme can be made a day ahead.

Though I try to eat mostly plant-based I don’t judge or label foods as “good” or “bad.” I simply try to eat foods that make me feel energetic, alive, light and joyful. These are usually plants!

This grapefruit, fennel, and avocado salad by Feasting at Home is tossed with toasted pistachios. It is a light and refreshing addition to a brunch or dinner.

A Meyer Lemon Loaf cake has some surprise ingredients like yogurt and cardamon. The finishing touch is a lemony glaze drizzled on top and sprinkled with toasted pistachios.

If you’re not a mother, you have a mother, so celebrate in style.

Wild Rose

Sangria

Sangria does not have to be made with red wine. This light and fragrant sangria is made with rose wine and a simple syrup made from dried rose petals. Plan ahead to dry out your petals - it will be worth the effort. No rose bushes at home, simply buy some already dried. Happy Mother’s Day!
