A Cozy New Years Eve - At Home!

Skip the crowds and celebrate at home

We stayed home on New Years' Eve for the past several years. This year seems like a perfect idea, with the Coronavirus spreading like wildfire. Our day starts at lunchtime, where we dine at one of our favorite restaurants and do it up big - a decadent meal, a celebratory cocktail, and possibly dessert. Then we come home, get into something comfortable, take a little nap, and get ready for the evening's festivities.

Our celebration starts around six with a spread of heavy hors d'oeuvres, a festive cocktail, and board games. We will stay up until the ball drops in Times Square, or not, but will toast in the New Year and get a good night's sleep. We love our new tradition. On New Years Day, we watch the Rose Parade and then gather with friends for football and, you guessed it, more food. Here are some ideas for a New Year’s Eve spread at home.

These can be made ahead and customized to include your favorites. Once out of the oven, top with avocado, jalapeno yogurt, and cilantro.
