The Spiced Apple - a Bourbon Cocktail
.75 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 oz. clove infused simple syrup (recipe follows)
3-4 drops bitters (we used Honey Chamomile)
2 oz bourbon
cinnamon and sugar mixed together for rimming
1.50 oz apple hard cider
Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass and stir to combine.
Pour over ice in cinnamon sugar rimmed glass.
Garnish with a slice of apple and a cinnamon stick.
Clove-Infused Simple Syrup
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
2 T whole cloves
Add all ingredients to a saucepan.
Over med heat, bring the syrup to a strong simmer (don’t boil).
Stir until the sugar completely dissolves.
Let the syrup cool to room temperature, and refrigerate with the cloves to infuse overnight.
Strain the syrup through a fine sieve. The syrup will keep for up to a month if refrigerated.
