The Spiced Apple - a Bourbon Cocktail


  • .75 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice

  • 1 oz. clove infused simple syrup (recipe follows)

  • 3-4 drops bitters (we used Honey Chamomile)

  • 2 oz bourbon

  • cinnamon and sugar mixed together for rimming

  • 1.50 oz apple hard cider


Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass and stir to combine.

Pour over ice in cinnamon sugar rimmed glass.

Garnish with a slice of apple and a cinnamon stick.

Clove-Infused Simple Syrup

1 cup sugar

1 cup water

2 T whole cloves

  • Add all ingredients to a saucepan.

  • Over med heat, bring the syrup to a strong simmer (don’t boil).

  • Stir until the sugar completely dissolves.

  • Let the syrup cool to room temperature, and refrigerate with the cloves to infuse overnight.

  • Strain the syrup through a fine sieve. The syrup will keep for up to a month if refrigerated.
